Bah Hum Bug

The choices we make today determine our tomorrow.

I was doing some shopping this weekend and it was blatantly apparent, to me, that retailers are planning ahead for the holiday season. And I don’t mean Halloween; there were Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations and advertising already out!

For a moment I was unhappy and overwhelmed thinking, Are you kidding me?! Not yet! But then I realized something, if they can get ahead of it, (they being the tricky retailers) so can I.

Let’s plan ahead for the holidays and start making good decisions today that will positively impact the holidays. I am going to start with thinking less about buying and more about my own self-care this final quarter of 2010. I guess the retail plan backfired. Ha!

The retail plan didn’t backfire as their intent was to get you thinking about the holidays in the first place…. notwithstanding your self-care decision. ;-)

The reason that stores put out Christmas decorations so early is because they have nothing else to put in the empty spot where back to school used to be. It is a lot of work to switch around a planogram or to re set an entire section of merchandise so rather then putting something there for a month, they just start xmas early. I used to think the same way before I worked in retail, but now it makes sense to me so I thought I’d pass on the info!
