Today, I am filled with gratitude for the dedicated staff members who work at Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence. Day in, day out, they serve individuals who are in emotionally challenging and often times dangerous situations. They experience secondary trauma from seeing and hearing about things that should never have been perpetrated on another human being. They do their work with compassion, with love and with a spirit of empowerment. I thank each one of them not only for what they do, but for the professional way in which they do it!
In recognition of the 16th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, Vice President Joe Biden recently invited advocates from around the country to discuss the issue. The executive director of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence is featured in this enlightening video.
